Fees, and what costs nothing

Most of what we do is free. Where there is a fee it is usually set nationally rather than by the parish, and it is always open to conversation.

St Andrew's, Nether Wallop

Nothing here is a barrier. If a fee is difficult, say so early and quietly to the Rector; it is a very common conversation and there are usually options.

What is free

  • Baptisms and christenings. There is never a charge.
  • Thanksgiving for the gift of a child. No charge.
  • Confirmation. No charge.
  • The funeral of a child. No charge, by national rule.
  • Prayer, a visit, a conversation. Always free.

Weddings

Set nationally by the Church of England, from 1 January 2026.

ItemFee
Publication of banns£39
Certificate of banns, if needed£20
Marriage service£566

The marriage service fee covers the administration, the church and its lighting. Heating, bells, flowers, an organist and the choir are set by each PCC separately. See weddings.

Funerals and burials

Also set nationally, and normally collected by your funeral director along with their own charges. They will give you a written estimate. See funerals and churchyards.

Church hall hire

The refurbished hall at Over Wallop is available to hire. Rates are set by the PCC. See hall hire.

Floodlight sponsorship

St Andrew's, Nether Wallop can be floodlit for a month in memory of someone, or to mark an occasion, for £25. See giving.

Giving

Nothing is expected of a visitor. If you would like to support a church, there are several ways, and regular giving is far more useful to a parish than a one-off gift.
